A New Methd of Investigating the Structure by Weight Loss of Polyester Fibers
Abstract
Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET), commonly known as polyester fibres, is the most widely produced synthetic organic fibers. They are used both for traditional textile purposes and increasingly for industrial applications. This paper deals with the use of new technique of assessing the structure of polyester fibers on the basis of their weight loss caused by draw ratio heat setting, hydrolytic and actinic treatments. Polyester staple fibers of 2.0 and 1.2 denier have been subjected to the treatments mentioned herein, and the results have proved to be encouraging. This could probably pave the way for studying the changes in the fine structure of polyester fibres as such and in treated states.Downloads
