Author Guidelines

The Journal of Textile and Apparel Technology and Management (JTATM) publishes scholarly and applied research related to textile and apparel technology, materials, manufacturing, product development, supply chains, and management practices within the textile and apparel sector.

Authors are invited to submit manuscripts that engage critically and creatively with topics in the textile and apparel field. All submissions will be assessed by an editor to determine whether they meet the aims and scope of this journal. Those considered to be a good fit will be sent for peer review before determining whether they will be accepted or rejected. 

Submissions should present a clearly defined research objective or problem, an appropriate methodology or analytical approach, and original findings or insights that contribute to knowledge or practice in the textile and apparel field.

Before making a submission, authors are responsible for obtaining permission to publish any material included with the submission, such as photos, documents and datasets. All authors identified on the submission must consent to be identified as an author. Where appropriate, research involving human participants or other regulated subjects should be approved by an appropriate ethics committee in accordance with the legal requirements of the study's country.

An editor may desk reject a submission if it does not meet minimum standards of quality.

Authors are therefore encouraged to ensure that the manuscript is clearly written, logically structured, and carefully edited prior to submission.

The title should be concise and the abstract should clearly summarize the purpose, approach, and key findings of the study.

A typical research manuscript may include the following elements:

  • Title
  • Abstract
  • Keywords
  • Introduction
  • Methods or Approach
  • Results or Analysis
  • Discussion
  • Conclusions
  • References

The introduction and literature review should clearly identify the research problem or knowledge gap addressed by the study and explain how the work contributes new findings, insights, or applications relevant to the textile and apparel field.

When you're satisfied that your submission meets this standard, please follow the checklist below to prepare your submission.

Submission Preparation Checklist

All submissions must meet the following requirements:

  • Manuscripts must be submitted in Microsoft Word format. PDF files cannot be accepted for initial submission.
  • Please use a professional editor to prepare your document for submission.
  • Manuscripts containing excessive grammatical, spelling, or formatting errors may be returned prior to review.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration.
  • The submission is formatted in Microsoft Word, in letter size (8.5" x 11"), with correct margins (1" top and bottom, and 1.25" left and right).
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 11-point Times New Roman font.
  • Please limit the use of bullet points, arrows, dashes, etc.
  • Continuous paragraphs are generally preferred for scholarly writing.
  • If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed.
  • References must be in APA format.
  • Figures and tables should be clearly labeled and placed within the manuscript near their first citation.
  • Please make sure that files are no longer than 10 pages of text, not including tables and references.
  • Please do not capitalize entire titles and headers.
  • Please do not insert footnotes.
  • Please use an American-English dictionary when spellchecking submissions.

Privacy Statement

At the Journal of Textile and Apparel, Technology and Management (JTATM), we recognize the importance of privacy to visitors of our Web site. This privacy policy explains what type of information is collected from you when you visit our Web site. JTATM does not collect personally-identifying information from the JTATM Web site unless you choose to provide that information to us. All of the information collected by via the site is used for JTATM or College of Textiles purposes only and is not distributed toother outside parties.

Like all other Web servers, JTATM uses a Web server that automatically creates log files for each visitor who accesses our site. These "access logs" allow us to make our site more useful to our visitors. The access logs do NOT record a visitor’s name, address, phone number, or any other personally-identifying information. Rather, they contain some or all of the following information:

The Internet Protocol Address (IP Address) of the machine which accessed our Web site.

  • The date and time of the visit.
  • The path taken through our Web site.
  • The browser being used.
  • A list of files downloaded or viewed.
  • Any errors encountered.

Corrections of Personal Data; Opting Out: Upon request to the JTATM Webmaster, robert_cooper@ncsu.edu, you will be permitted to a) correct or update any personal information in the JTATM database that you state is erroneous, b) opt-out of future general communications from JTATM or c) request JTATM to make reasonable efforts to remove your personal information from the JTATM, thereby canceling your subscription.
The user understands that it may be impossible to delete personal information entirely because of backups and records of deletions. JTATM reserves the right to change this policy. Any changes to this policy will be posted to this page as soon as reasonably possible, so please check this page periodically.
