Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic caused severe shortages of critical medical PPE products such as gowns, masks, gloves, face shields, and N95 respirators. With the shortages in supply, hospitals and other healthcare providers as well as first responders continue to experience extremely high demand for PPE products. The radical increase in demand significantly affected the supply chain network, which caused shortages of supplies and many disruptions in distribution.
